Dr Mari de Villiers is a veterinarian providing consulting services for birds and exotic pets at Rhino Park Veterinary Clinic, located in Windhoek North, Namibia.

​

The bird and exotic animal unit at the clinic is led by Dr Mari. She is passionate about all avian and exotic pets, including small mammals and reptiles.

​

Her main expertise extends to providing veterinary care for companion birds like parrots, pet chickens, and ducks, as well as small mammals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, hamsters, and rats. Additionally, she offers veterinary services for wild or legally-owned reptiles and amphibians, including tortoises, snakes, lizards, bearded dragons, chameleons, pet toads, and terrapins.

Dr Mari de Villiers 

BSc, BSc (Hons), BVSc, BVSc (Hons)

 

Over the years, Dr Mari has worked in several veterinary practices, including the Bird and Exotic Animal Hospital at Onderstepoort in South Africa. While her primary focus is on companion birds and small mammals, she is equally skilled in handling a wide range of reptiles and amphibians.

 

Beyond private practice, Dr Mari has contributed to academia as a clinician and teacher at the University of Namibia's Veterinary School. She has also been involved in various companion animals research projects, particularly on avian viral diseases in Namibia. Through her clinical expertise and research endeavours, she has established herself as a well-known general veterinarian in Namibia, with a special interest in birds and exotic species.

​

In her leisure time, Dr Mari enjoys sketching, painting, and refining her bonsai craft. She treasures time spent outdoors and values weekends with her family, emphasizing a balanced lifestyle. Her dedication and passion for the exotic creatures of the animal kingdom drive the exceptional level of care she provides to her patients and their owners.

Nina Bridgens RVN

RCVS NVQ level 3 (Veterinary Nursing)

 

Nina, our skilled registered veterinary nurse, has been an integral part of Dr Mari's team, providing exceptional care for birds and exotic pets over the years. With extensive nursing experience, including time abroad in the UK, Nina has since made Namibia her home. Her passion for working with birds and exotic animals was ignited upon joining Dr Mari’s team, and her expertise has been invaluable to our services ever since.

 

Outside the clinic, Nina can be found horse riding, enjoying time in the garden with her pets, or embarking on thrilling adventures with her husband. Her cheerful personality ensures a warm welcome for every client, while her commitment to the well-being of exotic pets reflects her unwavering dedication to animal care.
